d2w Purge

d₂w Purge is designed as a gentle cleaning agent to clear out material containing d₂w from the screw and barrel within an extruder.

Purging agents are regularly used in the extrusion process. They ensure a full clear-out of a base material or additive to ensure that no cross-contamination occurs between production-runs. They are also recommended if an extruder is due to be turned off for any length of time. The screw and barrel need to be purged clear of any remaining polyolefin, otherwise carbonised-matter will cling to the interior of the machine and cause major problems when re-starting.

Normal purge material is abrasive and can cause excess wear in the machine. However, when cleaning out d₂w - it is only the small residues of d₂w that require removal, and thus a powerful purging agent is not necessary.

d₂w Purge is recommended for use when changing back to conventional material after a d₂w run. The d₂w Purge will clear-out the d₂w element in the polymer-mix without causing as much wear and tear as a conventional purge.

Grade 95630 is designed for HDPE and 95635 for LDPE and LLDPE
